Advances in science and technology and other areas of society in the last 100 years have transformed the way we live as well as postponing the day we die. There is no better time to be alive now.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?
A greater percentage of people in the world enjoy more comforts and conveniences than ever before, and we are living longer. However, I believe that to claim now is the best time to have ever lived is incorrect, as it ignores the imminent threats from environmental issues and the problems that technology is causing. Most researchers agree that various types of pollution in some cities is making them toxic for the people who live there. As just one example, the people in Flint Michigan in the United States have suffered poisoning from drinking the water from municipal sources, which is alarming news from what is thought of as the world’s most developed country. The biggest concern, however, must be climate change. Huge numbers of animals are already disappearing from ecosystems that have been altered by human development. Furthermore, rising sea levels are bound to displace millions of people around the world, and it will certainly disrupt agriculture and industry as coastal areas are decimated.
Another modern issue is how technology is taking over so many people’s lives. For example, cell phones have made it easier to contact people, but everyone agrees that friends and family may spend less time having meaningful conversations with each other. This is certainly true when it comes to technology such as social media and video games because they encourage withdrawing from the real world. Moreover, advances in artificial intelligence and robotics means that many lower-educated people in the world will lose jobs in retail, manufacturing, farming, and transport. This does not bode well for their economic future.
In conclusion, people may be encouraged by the progress civilization has made, but I strongly believe that our global environment is on the verge of catastrophe. Also, technology may offer as many drawbacks as it does benefits unless we learn to use it moderately and responsibly.

Throughout the past century, life has changed dramatically by the development of science and various high-end technology means, gadgets. There are a lot of opposite ideas to this but in my opinion, humans are all living the best life for the time being now.
Looking back in time, the only way to communicate was by sending letters and it took months to receive the message. In present, people can talk to each other just by clicking on smart devices. It has reduced the time of responding along with keeping in touch with friends and family who are far away. Moreover, they can talk directly face to face through video calls which they could only dreamt of in the previous time. This can be seen clearly during the pandemic of Covid-19, although people could not work normally in the office, they could work from home with online extensions or students were still able to learn on online classes and submit their homework on school’s platform.
Advances in medical science likewise have brought cures for fatal diseases and this has significantly extended the lifespan we can expect. A large number of health issues have been resolved as new medicine or the latest surgery methods in a short period. Additionally, doctors can detect sickness by the use of modern medical machines, giving patients the earliest treatment or the prevention of their particular problems. For instance, babies can be recognized for any physical wellness at the beginning stage, helping the mother to acknowledge and take the right action in no time.
To sum up, there are still many other disadvantages but I believe humans have made great progress over the last 100 years. This may be a better time to live than any previous age but hopefully the future will be better still.
