The maps illustrate the changes that took place in Lakeside between 2000 and 2009. In general, Lakeside became less residential and green, adding more industrial and commercial facilities over the period. Looking to the northwest of the woodland and river, in the north, some dilapidated warehouses were demolished to make way for a car park. To the south of the car park, by 2009, Old Town had been torn down and replaced by offices, a university and the relocated school. In the northwest, the residential area was reduced slightly, and to the south an arts centre was cleared away for the construction of a multi-screen cinema. Just south of the cinema, a residential area was replaced by a shopping centre.

Looking just north of the river, by 2009, much of the lake was drained, leaving only a small pond, but expanding the woodland in that area. South of the pond, on the east side of the river, most of the woodland was cleared away and a residential area was demolished for a massive expansion of the industrial complex. (180 words)

The diagrams below illustrate how the town of Lakeside changed from 2000 to 2009. Overall, the town underwent a number of dramatic changes, the most important of which are the development of industrial, recreational facilities by reducing greenspace and residential area.

To the north-west of the map, residential areas remained while derelict warehouse was removed for a new car park. The old town to the south of the parking lot was also demolished to make way for offices, accompanied by university and schools for further educational purposes. An advanced cinema with multi-screen was built from an old art center located in the west of the town. To the south of the cinema, a residential area was removed to make way for a shopping center.

The natural range in the north-east of the town likewise saw a number of changes, with a wide lake being drained into a small pond and a considerable number of trees being cut down across the southern of the river. Furthermore, the industrial complex in the south-east was expanded three times larger, knocking down a residential area in the south of Lakeside.
